Ferry from Aswan to Wadi-Halfa

It’s a right of passage into Sudan for most adventurers, the ferry ride into Sudan.  The ship keeps a plodding pace along Lake Nassar.  Early in the morning it passes the ancient settlement of Abu Simbel, which can be seen towering up from the shore.

This weekly ferry is run by the Nile River Transportation company.  They have a few offices where you can buy tickets.  In Cairo you can be buy tickets at the Ramses train station.

Does the ferry pass Luxor? I haven’t been to Egypt yet, but my map says Luxor is a fair ways further north on the Nile. Perhaps you were thinking of Abu Simbel? Or perhaps I am mistaken.
