Sudan has a large population of Sufis, a more mystic, emotional sect of Islam. One of the largest gatherings is every Friday evening as the sun goes down in Omdurman. The location is in the middle of a large cemetery, beside a beautiful shrine. View Larger Map
Sudanese Weddings
The best part about traveling to a new country is seeing everyday life, and then some. Sudan’s wedding season is the week immediately after Ramadan. During that week I was invited to a new wedding every night and always felt welcomed and part of the festivities.
